On Friday evening, January 22 at 6:30, several of the Confluence Poets will participate in our annual celebration of William Stafford’s life and poetry, in this event sponsored by and produced in conjunction with Confluence Gallery. Featured readers Subhaga Crystal Bacon, Christine Kendall, Sam Lucy, Sam Owen, and Greg Wright will read a Stafford poem and a poem of their own.
The reading will also feature special guest Paulann Petersen, Oregon Poet Laureate Emerita and founder of the William Stafford Birthday reading series. Please join us to celebrate the life and work of William Stafford whose Methow River poems are inscribed on plaques throughout the Valley.
In honor of Stafford’s life-long pacifism, Liberty Bell High School freshmen will share a poem of their own that dreams justice for all.
Singer-Songwriter Ken Bevis will close out the evening with one of Stafford’s Methow River poems set to music.
You are invited to participate in this communal tribute. Bring your favorite Stafford poem or tale to share!
