Words of Wit and Whimsy

Words of Wit and Whimsy

Wednesday, December 4, 7-9 pm
Confluence Gallery, 104 Glover Street, Twisp

Subhaga Crystal Bacon hosted this often raucous and thoughtful romp, a reading in conjunction with the Gallery’s holiday “Wit and Whimsy” exhibit.

Subhaga led off the night with a “cento” assimilating lines from work that would be heard during the night. Sam Owen included a delightful piece inspired by Gothic novels and set in windy Wyoming. Christine Kendall included a rousing piece about vindaloo. Now, just TRY getting that word out of your head! Cindy Williams Gutierrez, among other works, read an extended extravaganza about an aunt named Virginia and and the Virgin Mary, inspired by a prompt of the Billy Joel line, “Come one, Virginia, show me a sign!” Greg Wright concluded the night with his comic recounting of Marshawn Lynch’s Beastquake 2.0 run, a riff on Clement’s “The Night Before Christmas.”
