Merry’s aim is to capture written pictures of places and animals she has seen since 1997 when she began a career in conservation. Many of the poems she writes are about birds, or “dinosaurs with wings.” She can be seen hiking or snowshoeing with a notebook tucked in her pack and binoculars slung over her shoulder. Her paintings also appear with some regularity at Confluence Gallery and Art Center in Twisp.
